A Christian friend shared her hope that one day the Lord would use her to do spiritual battle. I was appalled! Why would anyone want to seek trouble? Isn’t there enough to pray for in each person’s life? Well, I’ve learned so much since that conversation now about twenty years ago. The first is that God uses those who seek Him. My friend was willing to do the Lord’s work at this time in her life and she was way more spiritually mature than I was. She knew that if the Lord required this from her He would provide. The second thing I learned is that we have an Army of God to do battle for us. The battle has been won and we as adopted sons and daughters of the Almighty need not worry.

Have you ever felt that no one understands what you are going through or that the cross is too difficult to bear? Each person’s cross and difficulties are different and life spares no one, especially the longer you live. But God has not only equipped us He has supplied a heavenly host. When we think about the Lord and the angelic force behind him, we should have no fear. Does that mean we are fearless and do stupid things? No.

It also means we are not to be vengeful. There are so many people that do hurtful things in the name of Christianity that are just wrong. Remember we can not serve two gods, there is only One True God. He is the Alpha and the Omega. The beginning and the end and only in the one true God will we be freed.

In Revelations 19:19 we read Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and his army.

The battle in our lives is mostly a spiritual battle. It is the times when things are really hard to handle and overwhelm us. It is at these times that we cry out to God.  So what do at this time? Start by reading Ephesians 6:10-18

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Amen and Amen!

What is your state of mind when you hear that? It should be one of rejoicing. Pray the armor of God prayer daily if need be and realize God is in your midst. He is the one who will do battle for us. In Chronicles 20:15 we read… This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.

If that is not enough remember in Exodus, those disobedient Israelites? God didn’t leave them forsaken.

Exodus 14: 19 Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them,

and in Deuteronomy 20:1 –  When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you.

So let me leave you with this thought. If as we read in the Bible God could deliver entire nations what could He do not only for our own Nation that is just as fallen and evil as any past generations but for us. Friends He cares about you He loves you and He sees all of your hardship and tears. Your challenge this week is to look for the things that God does for you without you even asking. And call these praise reports. I’d like to share that I didn’t even ask the Lord for time with my son who just graduated from college and enlisted as a 2nd Lutientant in the Army. I thought would be leaving immediately after graduation for a work assignment. But instead, he will be home for two months before he leaves for training. What a blessing is that? God knows my heart and I didn’t even ask.

Friends, can you recognize these times and praise God? There is an entire army of the spiritual realm and we need to pray for protection for ourselves and our families and put our trust in God. Amen!
