Scripture

“I cannot do anything on my own; I judge as I hear, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will but the will of the one who sent me.” John 5:30

Reflection

If Jesus, who is the one speaking, makes the point that he cannot do anything on his own, how much truer is this for us? Jesus is showing humility and by his example is telling us to do the same. Turn to God the Father. Ask him before you do anything so it will be aligned with his will, not yours.

Free Will

Free will, we all have it. And for some, it means doing whatever we want. For others, for me and probably for you, we want to do the Father’s will. Let’s face it, he is a much better planner than I am. The way Jesus knew his Father’s will was through prayer. It is how we stay connected to him.

This week, before you make a major decision or changes to your previous plans, go to God first and ask for his plan.
