In life, there are so many choices to make and the reason I wanted to share this topic with you is that the choices I see people make are often based on little thought. Currently, there is a war of words going on that slander and hurt, words become two-edged swords. Doesn’t scripture talk about this? Yes, in Hebrews 4:12 we read, ”

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
God gave us this gift of communication and we use it all wrong! Recently in a private group that I am on with a group of moms that I have known for more than 20 years, someone was offended and decided to leave the group for political reasons. I was heartbroken until I saw a post from one of my friends who said, “Let’s pray for her, and begin for the next nine days with prayer specifically for her and her family.” That was a choice made by friends who are grounded in truth and in Christ! We love everyone, even if they hurt us!
The Scripture reminds us that God’s word is truth. And that if you discern, you often see that the thoughts and intents of our own hearts are not as they should be. Do we look at our motivations? The reasons why, or do we react? So many times the choices we make are based upon reactions, quick judgments, and ill-conceived through behind our decisions. I am very guilty of this.
Currently, on social media there is a war of words and if you are listening to this in five years, I am sure it will be as true in five years as it is today. There is always going to be a difference in the way that people look at things. Yet the way we respond can be godly or in a way that is harmful and tears apart relationships. I have seen families torn apart as well as friends, and it grieves me to no end. And, for what? The choice being made is proving you are right. You will never prove this with anger.
Which brings me to time, and the choices we make to serve. Years ago I realized that I was very quick to volunteer my time. I wanted to help and it gave me a sense of self-worth (translation pride) to receive the approval of others. I realized, finally by the grace of God that I didn’t have to say yes to each and every project and that I could work myself to the bone if I kept up the pace to the detriment of my family. The people I loved the most in this world. These choices were not necessarily a decision between good or bad. That is why it was so hard to figure out what was going wrong.
I find that the way we make our choices are tied to the place you are in your walk with the Lord. Are you grounded? Are you full of God’s love? Are you a half full or half empty type of person? This refers to the analogy of looking at a cup and seeing it as half full or looking at it as half empty. If we look at our lives in a positive light, which I believe is a gift that some have naturally, then it will help us in many ways.

Where are you in your faith walk? Are you raring to go each and every day, looking forward to the day that God has created and looking for those blessings you are sure will come to pass? Or are you looking at faith as a second thought that you remember especially when you are crying out in prayer? I believe how we live our lives is just the beginning.

We are living in what people keep calling “unprecedented times. But, truthfully I believe that each age could say the same thing. Each day there will be things that happen that will threaten our peace, our joy, and even the safety of our temporal earthly bodies. But the love of God is something we can count on and this is not something that we have to worry about or consider. It is a steady force, to describe God is to describe unconditional love. God created therefore he loves. So, with this in our lives, how can we feel saddened or afraid?

2 Corinthians 5:14-21

14 For the love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. 15 And he died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves, but for him who died and was raised for them.

16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view;[a] even though we once knew Christ from a human point of view,[b] we know him no longer in that way. 17 So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself,[c] not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. 20 So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Friends that is all we need to know. We can no longer regard people from a human point of view. We have to look at people from the point of view that God has given to us. How do we judge? How do those choices we make affect us as well as those in our life? Do we choose for good or for bad? We are ambassadors for Christ. God is making HIS appeal through us! For our sake, HE made HIM to be sin who knew NO sin, so that in HIM we might become righteous of God.

We are called. You. Me. To live this life to the fullest knowing that Almighty God has got this. Whatever “this” is in your life. What choice are you making?  I pray this is a wake-up call for all of us to chose Christ.

Let’s Pray:
Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for loving us for giving us our Lord and Savior who was without sin but took on our sins so that we could be cleansed. I chose to make good decisions, I chose Christ, I chose to live my life in a way that is pleasing to you! Please Lord, take on my burdens and lift them from me. Allow me to understand your will for my life, and help me in my daily yes to you. I pray specifically for the following needs:    And, I pray this in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
