Cure For Fear – Episode 158
There is no cure for fear, or is there? Everywhere we look, no matter what time or place there is something to fear, if we allow it to creep in. Fear is a tool of the enemy. There is indeed a faction out there that wants us to be fearful. But, with Almighty God we can combat fear, we have weapons and tools!

Do we recognize Jesus in the everyday? He promised to be with us always. And while we understand so many things on the intellectual level our hearts are often heavy and burdened. The first thing I would like you to do is briefly think about what is your fear, what are you carrying on your shoulders? What is it that is weighing you down? Is the state of our world? Is it your children? Is it fear of fires, hurricanes, floods, disease, viruses, tornados, or other disasters? What is it in your life that has caused you to fear? If we look at Psalm 10 the beginning verse may sum up how you feel: “Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide in times of trouble?” Is that how we feel that the Lord is a far way off?
Sometimes I catch myself thinking way too much, psychoanalyzing things and wondering and worrying. I think we do more harm to ourselves in overthinking things at different times. What does God expect of us? I can’t talk for the Almighty but I do know that the Scriptures are clear on what He expects. The Israelites were a prime example at the time of the prophet Jeremiah in showing us what turning your back on all that is good and holy does for a kingdom. It destroys it!
We have an everyday choice to obey, love, and seek the Lord, to give him our hearts. Everything I have, everything I am, is a gift from God. So, in other words, what I am is God’s gift to me. Think about this. What I am is God’s gift to me. Many times we think we are not enough but if we consider that we are a gift from God it changes our perspective.
Evil on the other hand is a very frightening thing and the way we respond to evil says much about ourselves and our state of being. in Mark 3:22-30 we read:
22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons, he is driving out demons.”
23 So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. 27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house. 28 Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”
30 He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”
We can not credit the evil one with what belongs to God. At the root of all evil is pride. Pride is the root of all sin. Do we find ourselves prideful? Do we think we know better than others how they should live their lives? Do we choose the world over God?
We read here the Lord’s admonishment is that we can not be a house divided. And. let me pause here and say that we need to form our conscience on the rock of truth. Not truth as the world tells us but truth as it is presented by the Christ, the living Word of God. If a kingdom is divided against itself that kingdom can not stand. If a house is divided against itself the house cannot stand. We must be unified and. we must be in prayer with Almighty God.
Once again, how much time do you give the Lord? Is he foremost in your thoughts daily? Do you begin and end the day in prayer. Set reminders if you forget in your busy day, but truthfully our Lord takes precedence over every other thing in our lives.
Once again do we choose the world over God? God wishes us to resist the tactics of the evil one and those are the things that rob our peace. Recently I was blessed with an outpouring of pure joy. It made no sense. I was just joyful! It wasn’t something I was thinking of something I was doing it just was. These times are far and few between, and please Lord bless me with more of this because it was heaven! It was a sense of security, and love that surpasses all understanding and just a sense of well being that all was right in a world where all is wrong.
So, friends the cure for fear as I have found are the five following points:
- As a believer, you are NEVER forsaken. Realize that the Lord is Lord of all. He knows everything. He will not leave you floundering or wanting. He is there for you.
- Be grounded in the word and the Scriptures. Memorize Romans 8:28Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.2. Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
3. Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.
- Choose Christ over the world. Choose God each and every day.
- Surrender your will to God – more on this in upcoming podcasts – Daily – Lord I give you my will, Lord please give me your will. They Kingdom come Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
- Trust. Trust God with your life and your future. This of course takes faith but God will give you the gift of faith. Just ask!
Simple right? Of course not. It takes a daily walk and a large dose of faith. The faith that surpasses all understanding. And, for that my friends, we will pray!
Dear Jesus. You are the Lord of Lords and we know without a doubt that you have us in the palm of Your hand. We love you and we praise You Jesus and ask that you watch over us and give us that dose of joy that sustains us through any dark times. We give you our fears and lay them at the foot of your cross – you have overcome death and with your resurrection have conquered evil once and for all> evil has no power over you, and I pledge my allegiance you to my God who are good and deserving of all of my love! I pray for those I’d like to life up today… and I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen!
