Glory of God – Episode 184
We see the glory of God everywhere we look and even during a storm from the safety of our homes. Yet, when we look at devastations such as recent hurricanes we wonder where God is in the midst of tragedy (and let’s not get started about world events). God is always with us. Even when we do not feel His presence. Join me as I share a reminder for all of us that HE really cares.

We are told that we have new life in Christ when we embrace the Christian message, but what does it mean? Think about this. If you are in a place where you can turn off this recording and ponder this, I invite you to do so now. What did you come up with? What thoughts came into your mind when you thought about your new life in Christ? Well, it can mean many things but a shortlist could include the following:
- A change in the way you acted before you were a Christian to the way you act now.
- Embracing the thought that God’s grace and love will sustain you.
- Have a spiritual experience.
- Want to know and learn more about God.
- See God in everything.
And the last is what we are going to talk about today, seeing God in everything and realizing that the glory of God’s love is everywhere! We see God in the little things in our life. You can find out what is on your heart when your thoughts come to you when you first wake up. Are you praising God for the day or are you annoyed that you have to wake up and deal with the events of your day? If this is the case, it is time for self-reflection and to get on your knees in prayer. God hears you and He is waiting for you to go to Him!
To see the glory of God, His miraculous hand in the world in which we live – the joys that surround us that we do not see (often because we can’t get past the things that are weighing us down), we will see that God is in the midst of the good and the bad things that happen in our lives. I heard the news of a friend of my son’s who recently had a car accident and totalled a car that had already undergone quite a bit of money on repairs. While this was devastating news, all I could think about was that the friend had not been harmed and no one else was hurt.
This didn’t happen to me, so maybe I would have thought of things differently, but to see God in all things we must have a different mindset.
It reminds me of Psalm 86:12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.
How much better to see things in what the secular world would call a positive spin, rather than a negative one. Whatever you want to call it I’m happier when I consider all that God has done for me. Who am I? I am no one. I am nothing. Yet in Christ I am everything. It is He who shines within me and it is my duty to share his love for me with you. I do it through this podcast, this is my mission field. I don’t know who is listening or when you listen to this show, all I see are numbers not faces, yet I know you are there and that motivates me to continue.
What are your gifts? What has God given you that is unique and special. We each have a purpose and a mission to fulfill.
1 Peter 4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
When we serve others the thoughts of depression go out of our minds, we are in a place where we are not thinking about ourselves and our problems. We can enjoy where we are at that present time. But let’s get back to the topic at hand – seeing the glory of God all around us.
Just like we can pray for more faith, more patience, more perseverance, strength, grace, love, and hope, we can pray for eyes that see. We want to live our lives with wonder and joy like a child, yet as we live and the longer we live we have hardships and often fear and anxiety creep in. No more. Stop the cycle, today! Read this scripture in Ephesians to begin with and do a search for more. We want eyes that see and do not miss that God is all around us in the difficult things and in the wonderful things that happen.
Ephesians 1:18-19 states:
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength…
Here I want to share what has helped me in life. And what triggered this thought was reading about the riches of his glorious inheritance… when we see the word riches or inheritance we may stop and think about our current financial situation. If this happens thank God for what you have and I usually say in my mind – thank you Lord I need nothing else. Think about this, what more could we want than the love of God and the hope of salvation in Him? Any bright and shiny new toy eventually gets old. So focus on the inheritance in his holy people and his incomparably great power for us who believe! I believe Lord and I say yes! I chose you each and every day.
Let’s pray:
My Lord, you are the Almighty and the King of heaven and earth. I give you this day, this afternoon, this night and I ask you to give me eyes that see you in the magnificence of your creation. In this world of terror and strife, in this world where greedy men and women try to oppress, I know that you reign supreme and this is just a distraction from the inevitable glory of the kingdom to come. I praise you and I thank you, Lord, God Almighty and I believe you hear all of my prayers, and especially these I lay at your feet… I thank you for listening and I pray this in Jesus, Name. Amen.
