Renew Your Mind ~ Episode 129
It’s time to renew your mind with a mini-retreat! Every once in a while we need to be filled up to overflowing so we can be a joyful Christian and others can look at us and say, “I want what they have!” Are you joyful? No? Well, in this episode I’ll share some ways to change for the better!
Thanks to our sponsor Media Angels, and the books A Few Minutes with God and One More Child
I was listening to an inspirational speaker who grew her business way beyond her imagination. She was able to help to provide for her family after her husband was ill and then became disabled. One of the things that resonated was when she shared that she would time everything in her life even her prayer time, and when she gave God her time she would constantly look at her watch. She realized this was not what she should be doing and when she gave her time to God her prayer life grew.
Stress is a huge factor in our lives. Those who get to a breaking point or are overwhelmed are often the same ones who do not take the time with the Lord. This is a reminder for myself as well as for you! IF we take the time with God another blessing comes. The Lord is asking us to slow down and spend more time with him! We will recover and receive Divine Strength and who doesn’t want that!
Renewing your mind is so important and if you listened to my last episode on the Ten Lies of Satan you will find that we get worn down by the lies of the enemy when we do not know what our Christian faith means. I can’t tell you how God works because our Almighty Father, the creator of heaven and earth is a mystery the more I learn the more I want to learn. But I can tell you this. God does not create junk and the enemy would like you to think that you are not worthy, or too sinful, or not good enough, or you need to be perfect, or you can’t trust or forgive, and on an on. But no, God loves you, baggage and all and He wants to fill you up with his love, peace, joy and grace!
Renew Your Mind
- Find a place that is quiet and you can relax and pray.
- Be ready. Don’t try this when you have laundry to do or something else pressing.
- Brew your favorite drink or grab a glass of water. You don’t want to give yourself excuses to get up!
- Play background music quietly if helps. No words just instrumentals. You can also use sounds of nature if those help you to relax.
- Set aside at least fifteen minutes or more. Don’t wear a watch!
Mini-Mind Renewal Retreat:
- Start with a prayer welcoming God. Thank you, Lord for every good thing. I want to give you this time my God to worship you, and to thank you. Please fill me with the joy that surpasses all understanding and fill me to overflowing. Again – in your own words.
- Praise and worship. Either use music or pray a litany such as I praise you, Lord, you are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning, and the end, You are the Almighty King of Kings the Lord of Lords. Just praise God. If you have difficulty you can find something online or in a prayer book or your favorite song. This is important to come into God’s presence.
- Read the Holy Bible. Slowly and savor each word. It can be a short passage to begin with.
- Write in a journal or just let the words wash over you. Does anything resonate?
- Meditate on these thoughts and add some of your own:
- What I am is God’s gift to me and what I become is my gift to God!
- God’s Word is an everlasting rock.
- God’s will is always accomplished.
- Salvation is dependent on knowing the truth and acting on this knowledge.
- Make a friend of Jesus, be a friend of Jesus, make a friend yourself and introduce your new friend to Jesus!
- Picture Jesus calming the sea and you are in the boat with Him. What does he say? What do you learn?
- The invisible God becomes visible when we spend time with Him.
- What I am is God’s gift to me and what I become is my gift back to God.
- Everything good thing comes from God.
- God is good all the time. More of God and less of me!
Let’s pray:
Dear Lord first give me the time to spend time with you. I want to do this every day but I especially want to do this in a retreat with you. I thank you Lord for every good thing that you have given me! I ask you Lord for the grace to be aware of the sin in my life and to avoid it. I pray my God that I put you first above everything else and I choose you! Dear Lord, I ask for the following prayer intentions:
I praise you and I thank you ahead of time for all answered prayer. And I pray this in the Name of Jesus, Amen!
