Testimony of Sr. Jacqueline Gitonga
Sr. Jackie Jean-Marie Gitonga was born and raised Kenya on a farm. She was the oldest of 3 children, with a younger brother and sister. She grew up in the Catholic faith. A program called Opus Dei taught her the basics of living and gave her the foundations of her faith. Her parents gave her a prayer book and a bible to help her spiritual growth. In High School she attended a boarding school and started questioning her faith as she did not have the answers. She decided to leave the faith and told her parents. They gave her words of wisdom that she did not have to leave the faith but to go deeper.
Sr. Jacqueline Gitonga. studied her undergrad at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa and received a degree in Business Administration. She then got the opportunity to come to the United States and received an M.Ed. in Education, Human Resource Development and went on to getting her doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Human Resources. While in college she joined the Newman Center and a Charismatic group. She went on a retreat and heard about consecrated singles. She was also healed of a stomach ailment. From that moment on her faith became alive for her, she loved going to Mass and Adoration. She was introduced to the idea of religious life and that began her quest to search out different orders. She discovered the Daughters of St. Paul. In 2019, Sr. Jackie professed her final vows. She is currently the National Director of Pauline Cooperators- Daughters of St. Paul in the USA. She resides in Metairie, LA.
