From Diagnosis to Deliverance: Testimony of Floredenis Brown

Floredenis Brown shares her powerful testimony of faith, motherhood, and triumph against the odds in this uplifting story. From Diagnosis to Deliverance: Testimony of Floredenis Brown

Principal of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary-St. Richard Catholic School

In this powerful and high-energy testimony, Floredenis Brown shares her journey of defying the “lies of the enemy” through radical faith. Born with sickle cell anemia and later diagnosed with lupus, Floredenis was told by doctors that higher education was unlikely and motherhood was impossible.

Today, she stands as a wife of 20 years, a mother of two “miracle” boys, and a decorated educational leader holding four degrees. Floredenis recounts her “falling in love” moment with Jesus at a Magnificat luncheon and how that relationship fueled her to navigate high-risk pregnancies, NICU scares, and professional shifts. This episode is a masterclass in replacing panic with prayer and standing on the promises of God when the world says “no.”

Notable Quotes

“The devil said I couldn’t have it, but God had His way… I don’t care what diagnosis that doctor gave me. Doctor Jesus said I’m going to be a mommy.”

“I am going to be the Jesus freak of the century because that’s the biggest compliment you could ever give me—that I am in love with the lover of my soul.”

Fr. Erik Villa Saturday Homily- The Healing Power of Scars

Join Fr. Erik Villa in a Saturday Mass that reflects on healing and the significance of scars in our lives.Episode: 03 Saturday Mass – Healing Power of Scars – Fr. Erik Villa

Title: Saturday Mass: Healing, Scars, and the Gift of Encounter

This special Saturday liturgy from the Magnificat Conference in Tampa is a profound exploration of healing, fraternity, and the providence of God. The session opens with a moving moment of solidarity as Bishop David Toups invites the assembly to pray for the families in his diocese grieving the victims of recent tragic floods in Texas.

In the homily, Fr. Erick Villa shares a deeply personal “testimony of magnification.” He reflects on his childhood in the Philippines, his 16-year separation from his mother, and the physical scars he carries from his youth. Fr. Erick reframes these marks not as signs of trauma, but as “reminders that the wounds actually healed.” Drawing parallels to the life of Joseph in Genesis, he encourages listeners to see how God intertwines our paths—even through betrayal and displacement—to fulfill a divine plan.

Key Takeaways

  • Building the Body: Bishop Toups emphasizes the essential nature of the “lay priesthood,” noting that the love of the laity is what strengthens and holies the ordained clergy.
  • Bitter or Better: Fr. Erick discusses the choice we face when dealing with dysfunctional pasts or family separations. He argues that our experiences can either harden us or prepare us for a unique mission.
  • The Theology of Scars: Physical and emotional scars are proof of God’s healing power. They serve as a “normalizing” force that proves we have lived, struggled, and been restored.
  • A “Global” Church: Fr. Erick highlights the beauty of the universal Church, sharing how a Vietnamese seminarian invited a Filipino to minister in the United States.
  • Proclaiming from the Housetops: A call to live as “tangible expressions of love,” moving from the interior “domestic church” to the public square with boldness.

Scriptures Referenced

Genesis 49-50: The burial of Jacob and Joseph’s forgiveness of his brothers (“Even though you meant harm to me, God meant it for good”).

Matthew 10:24-33: The call to fearlessness and the reminder that we are worth “more than many sparrows.”

Testimony of Karen Jedrzejewski

Magnificat Podcast – A Ministry to Catholic Women

Episode Overview

In this powerful episode of the Magnificat Ministry Podcast, Karen Jedrzejewski shares her extraordinary journey from a painful and abusive childhood to complete surrender to Jesus Christ. What began as a lifelong love of horses ultimately became the path God used to draw her into healing, faith, and redemption.

Karen’s testimony is one of perseverance, recovery, and God’s transforming grace—even in the most broken places.

Karen Jedrzejweski- A Story: From Brokenness to Belonging

Karen grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in a deeply dysfunctional and abusive home. By the age of 14, she realized she could no longer remain with her family and began moving from one household to another.

At 16, she dropped out of school, bought a motorcycle, and moved to a ranch in Ohio. While horses were her passion, they were not enough to stop her descent into addiction and self-destruction.

In 1992, after entering a treatment facility, Karen began her road to recovery—and it was there she encountered Jesus Christ in a life-changing way. Following a devastating horse accident that nearly took her life, Karen experienced a moment of complete surrender to the Lord.

Life After Surrender

Today, Karen is:

  • Married for 36 years

  • A mother of three adult children

  • A grandmother

  • Fully devoted to seeking and serving God

Her faith journey didn’t stop there. Karen’s musical gift as a drummer was recognized within her prayer group, and she has faithfully served as a drummer with the Living Praise Worship Team for over 20 years.
