The Best Episodes of 2021

A Production of the Ultimate Christian Podcast Network.

Quite a year

Our year began with an episode that encouraged us to begin a spiritual makeover by “Changing our Hearts.”

Later in the year, I talked about Rhythm, Routines and Habits, a good one to listen to as you begin planning for a new year, be it in your personal or professional life.

I hope that as we talked about prayer, scripture and books that all of our hearts and souls turned toward God and are now more closer to him and Jesus.

Prayer Episodes

The topic of prayer resonates with you.  Prayers of Gratitude and Surrender was a conversation with my friend Erin McCole Cupp. We talked about how the practice of focusing on gratitude helps us as we deal with problems in life.  You also like to pray with your spouse, something that is always helpful in my own marriage.

And the books!

Author interviews are a great way to meet new people and figure out what to read next. Barbara Lee, author of Answering God’s Call, a Scripture Based Journey for Older Adults; Whisper: Finding God in the Everyday by Danielle Bean and then first-time author Christy Wilkens book, Awakening at Lourdes were all favorites.

Don’t forget

I’ll be back in 2022 with more episodes on not lukewarm living. If you have any topics, questions or comments,  please leave a comment here.

Listen to one of the podcasts mentioned above, leave a review wherever you listen to podcasts, or sign up for the Live Not Lukewarm newsletter.

Rhythm, Routine & Habits

A Production of the Ultimate Christian Podcast Network.

Sounds a bit boring?

Rhythm, routines and habits sound a bit boring, isn’t the fun in life unplanned and spontaneous. Yes and no.  I like having a rhythm and routine in my life and habits make life easier, so you make fewer decisions all day long.

Plan my day

I find when I plan my day I get more done, have more energy, feel more creative and have more time for fun. But lately, I’ve not been doing it and life has been a jumble, not flowing very smoothly at all.

Some people who’ve helped me

I like James Clear, author of Atomic Habits; Gretchen Rubin, an NYT best-selling author and podcaster; Gary Keller and Jay Patapan, authors of The One Thing.

Create some routines for your day that will help you live a notlukewarm life more easily. It can be to start a new habit, plan your day to include some fun or add prayer time. Do something that will be of benefit to your life as it is right now!

Join me on September 20-23 for 4 ways to pray with scripture! You can sign up here.

It’s easy to think about getting organized, but sometimes it’s hard to actually be organized.

But what does it mean to “be more organized?” Well, it can be any one of the following, or a combination:

  • Knowing where everything you need is, the moment you need it.
  • Arriving places on time.
  • Being prepared.
  • Feeling like you’re in control of your day.

Easy Steps to Minimalism

Easy Steps to Minimalism

Increase Your Time, Energy and Reduce Stress

Do you struggle with holding on to too much stuff?

Is stuff suffocating you?

We all have “stuff” that we hold on to because of memories or sentiment but when does it become too much. And I am now a mother of two, and my house is just getting fuller and fuller. We barely buy anything besides food, but somehow the stuff just gets in! These practical steps to a simpler way of living have helped me feel less overwhelmed.

Though it is a work in progress, I am trying my best every day to adapt these tips below, because I know they will help me live a life with more time, less stress and more energy to enjoy life.

Who is ready to embrace simplicity?

Embrace minimalism, the practice of living with less and keeping only what you need or love.

Why Take Steps to Become a Minimalist?

  • Cleaning will be easier. Less stuff means less mess
  • You’ll be able to find things. Less stuff typically means that there is a place to put the things you choose to keep.
  • You will shop less. Simplifying makes you aware of what you need and this leads to less shopping. When you do shop it is for a purpose.
  • You will have more time. You will not have to work more to pay for “stuff’ and spend your time off cleaning the “stuff” you have. This leaves more time to do the things you love or want to do.
  • Your mind is clearer when you have fewer things around you. Less clutter allows for more clarity.
  • You let go of the past. When we hold onto stuff, it can also hold onto memories that no longer serve us. This in and of itself is freeing.
  • You do things more simply!

Ten tips to help you get started:

  1. Complete unfinished tasks, don’t leave what can be done now to haunt you later.
  2. Have a designated place to put all donation items allowing for an easy way to get rid of things that are no longer serving a need.
  3. Decrease your knick-knacks, less stuff to break and collect dust.
  4. Turn around the hangers in your closet so you are able to visually see the things that you no longer wear.
  5. Open junk mail next to the recycling bin, open and dispose of it so it’s not stacking up on tables and counter.
  6. Get rid of your “junk drawer”. This is a glorified catch-all.
  7. Clear out your medicine cabinet. This tends to harbor expired medications or things we are no longer using.
  8. Avoid the sale racks, this is a good way to end up with things we did not need or even intend to buy.
  9. Have one location to store kid toys.
  10. Don’t reorganize, we don’t need more places to store thing but instead less stuff to store.

Ready, set, GO!

Ask yourself these two questions as you sort through your things:

  1. Does this item bring me joy? If not – get rid of it.
  2. If my house burned down today, would I buy this item again? If not, I think you know where it can go…

As always,

Be grateful & have faith!

God Bless!
