Episode 4-When Mom Goes Back to Work

You stayed home to raise your children, but now, one by one, they are leaving the nest and you’ve decided that it’s time to re-enter the workforce.

Navigating the process of re-entering the workforce can be an overwhelming experience and there are many things to consider.

What kinds of training and career resources are available for women who want to return to the workforce?

How can a woman re-entering the workforce create a winning resume if she has a significant employment gap?

What kinds of things did you do to prepare for your employment interview?

What kinds of things can someone looking for work do to boost their chances of successfully finding a job?

These are a few of the questions that I will discuss with Caryn Becker, a former home educator and stay-at-home mom. Caryn recently re-entered the workforce and is currently a registered pediatric nurse who works with medically fragile children at a metro-Atlanta hospital. She holds two bachelor degrees–one in nursing and the other in retailing, along with two associate degrees. Caryn is a Georgia native and she and her husband, Brent, have six adult children and one grandson.
