What is an Oiler?

Well simply put an oiler is someone who uses essential oils but what does it really mean to use essential oils?

Diffuser Them

This is one of the basic ways to use essential oils. Grab your diffuser (which you get with your PSK here) and add some oils and water. You are making the area smell amazing and you are supporting your body and those around you,

Apply them to Your Skin

Do you have an area of discomfort? Apply oils and you will be amazed! Grab lavender and frankincense for the skin or peppermint and panaway for a throbbing head.

Got Emotions?

Essential oils for emotions is a game changer! You can diffuse them, smell them straight from the bottle and apply them using affirmations to release the negative and embrace the positive. *Note* only Young Living oils are recommended when dealing with emotions and the limbic area of the brain.

What About Wellness?

Using essential oils to support your overall wellness is a sure sign of an Oiler. This is as simple as grabbing one of your favorite immune supporting oils like Thieves, frankincense or lemon and applying them to your feet or diffusing them.

Don’t Forget About the Kids

Using essential oils with your kids is simple and easy. Diffusing and applying them daily for the different things that come up is a wonderful way to keep them healthy. Always be your own advocate and apply them to your comfort level.

Oils Around the Home

Using essential oils beyond diffusing is a step in the right direction. You can use them to clean, in your personal care products, lotions, supplements and more!

Cooking with Oils

Who knew? Cooking with oils is just like adding your favorite spice like black pepper or herb, just remember that you might only need a drop. This also cuts down your food budget in the herb department.

When you become an Oiler, you are simply adding oils into your daily life and living a healthier life because of it. Most people start with their Premium Starter Kit (12 oils + a diffuser = winning!) and it will be the best investment you will ever make! Are you ready to become an Oiler? I would love to help you get started!

As always be grateful & have faith!

Simple Ways to Detox Daily

Drink lemon water

Warm to room temperature lemon water is the best, especially first thing in the morning. Add a drop of lemon vitality or some fresh squeezed organic lemon juice work well.

Sip on a Detox Tea

There are a variety of teas out there. Look for teas that contain dandelion root, ginger root, burdock, and licorice.

Add Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has a multitude of benefits. It alkalizes the body, helps detox the liver and supports the metabolism. Good Girl Moonshine is one of my favorite ways to add it to my day.

Jump

Jumping is a great way to stimulate our lymphatic system. It increases circulation.

Eliminate

Elimination is one of the key ways that our detoxes every single day. Be sure to eat clean and add in your fiber. Get in your probiotics, digestive enzymes, and Digize essential oils. Consider trying a coffee enema.

Dry body brushing

This not only feels good but it also activates the lymphatic system, stimulates circulation and enhances the elimination of toxins through our largest organ- the skin!

Detox baths

This is a good thing to add to your weekly routine to help support and cleanse our body. Grab the recipe here. All you need is some sea salt or Epsom salt, baking soda, and essential oils. If you can’t do a bath, try a foot soak.

Make your home healthy

Get some plants in your home that act as natural air filters. Avoid using chemical cleaners. Throw out your plugins, candles and other items that scent our home and instead use a diffuser with essential oils (I recommend Young Living.) Get a reverse osmosis system or water distiller.

What simple steps are you ready to make to detox your life daily?

It doesn’t have to hard or complicated, just start making little changes to a healthier you!

Healthy Kids

Part 2

As parents, we all want what is best for our kids and their health is a priority to us. We talked about some of the key areas that we can look at to make sure that we are creating a healthy lifestyle and the overall health of our kids.

+ Fingernails

Fingernails are a good indicator of what is going on inside of our bodies. Who knew, right? What are we supposed to look for:

  • We should see eight moons on our fingernails, this is a sign of an overgrowth of candida(this is something that happens around those mid-teen years and older)
  • Inflammation around the cuticles is a sign of inflammation in the body
  • Lines from tip to cuticle is a sign of parasites
  • Fungus nails is a sign that we are not eating enough healthy fats
  • White marks on our nails is a lack of zinc
  • Constant biting or picking is a sign of parasites

All of these go back to gut health. It is important to keep an eye on our gut health because that is typically where illness starts.

+ Poop

We can talk about poop, right? Everyone’s poop is a good indicator of what is going on inside of our bodies, especially in our gut. The Bristol Stool Chart is something to familiarize yourself with so that you can make sure that everything is working as it should be for both you and your children.

  • 1-2 is a sign of constipation
  • 3-4 is where you want to be and you should be going at least once a day
  • 5-7 might be normal for some but is definitely not healthy

+ Start simple

It is not too late and you can start by taking simple steps. When we know better, we do better. Some simple steps in the right direction:

  • Clear any parasites, candida or fungus. Find EDS(Electro-Dermal Screening) in your area because it is worth every penny!
  • Start by making one healthy meal a day. Simple small changes make for a lifetime of improvement.
  • Limit sugars
  • Cut out as many outside toxins. This is the best place to start and I will walk you through the process.
  • Know what the root cause is to things that are issues for your child: reflux, breathing issues, food dyes, aspartame, etc.

Start simple but simply start

When we know better we do better and now that you know, what will you do?

Tune in next week on how we can prepare our bodies to have a healthy child and more steps to raising healthy and happy kids!

How to Make Yogurt

A Production of the Ultimate Christian Podcast Network.

Podcast #35

How to Make Yogurt

Making your own yogurt isn’t as hard as one may think. It is actually a very simple and easy thing to do plus you have the added benefit of knowing exactly what is in your yogurt.

There are two ways that I recommend making yogurt: the good old fashion way(aka stovetop) and the new-fangled way(aka in the Instant Pot). Both ways require two simple ingredients: milk(raw or store bought but I recommend at least 2% or thicker) and a starter yogurt(plain yogurt or Greek yogurt)

The Old Fashion Way

Ingredients

  • 1 gallon of milk- preferably raw or whole
  • 8 oz of starter (plain yogurt or plain Greek yogurt)

Instructions

  1. Heat milk in a stainless steel pan over medium heat until it reaches 165-185 degrees.
  2. Cool, either by sitting on the counter or in a cool water bath until the temperature drops to 110 degrees.
  3. Add culture-2 oz of starter (of yogurt from a previous batch, store-bought yogurt) per quart of milk(so 8 oz for a gallon). Gently stir just enough to incorporate into the milk.
  4. Pour into mason jars and put the jars into the oven with the light on for 8-24 hours. I like to place in warm water (110-115 degrees) and put in the oven but some just place the jars in too. The light should provide a consistent heat of about 110 degrees.
  5. Put jars into the refrigerator until the yogurt is cold and set.
  6. Once the yogurt is set you can pour off the liquid whey from the top or strain the yogurt using cheesecloth for a thicker consistency(Greek yogurt).
  7. Enjoy!

The New- Fangled Way

Ingredients

  • 1 gallon of milk- preferably raw or whole
  • 8 oz of starter (plain yogurt or plain Greek yogurt)

Instructions

  1. Pour milk into Instant Pot(IP), hit yogurt button and then hit adjust until you select the “Boil” option
  2. Walk away and it will shut off when it is done (magic!!)
  3. Once it is done boiling, you can allow to cool on its own or put it in a cold water bath until the temperature is down to 110 degrees
  4. Once the milk reaches 110 degrees you can gently add the starter yogurt
  5. Again select the yogurt button and adjust it from “boil” to anywhere from 8-24 hours.
  6. Once the allotted time is up, put yogurt into mason jars and allow it to cool and set up in the refrigerator.
  7. Once the yogurt is set you can pour off the liquid whey from the top or strain the yogurt using cheesecloth for a thicker consistency(Greek yogurt).
  8. Enjoy!

So are you ready? Go grab your milk and starter yogurt and get cooking!

Traveling: tips, tricks, and must-haves

Traveling can be crazy, chaotic, and all around draining but it doesn’t have to be.

Here are a few tips, tricks, and must-haves that we have found hugely beneficial while traveling, especially when we travel with kids and a lot of them!

#1 Be Flexible

Being flexible helps you prepare for delays, traffic or changes in your plan. I also like to not over plan. This allows for some rest and relaxation during your trip.

#2 Make a List

  • Packing your bag
  • Travel plan or schedule
  • All the extra’s (camera, snacks, etc.)

#3 Pack minimally

  • Can you do laundry?
  • How many outfits can you make with the pieces of clothing you packed?
  • Check the weather for where you are headed
  • Pack one container of toys (something that is compactable but classic)
  • What does the hotel/timeshare/house provide? (pack and play, high chair, strollers, etc.)

#4 Keep your budget in mind

With a large or small family, the budget is always important. Should you check out renting a home through someplace like VRBO or do you get a hotel room or an extended stay? Do you want to have a place to cook or are you planning on eating out?

Another thing to consider is driving or flying? Will you need to rent a car, for how many people? Is the travel for business or pleasure?

#5 Never forget your essentials

A large part of your costs can be on things that you could have easily packed. Do you have a travel 1st aid kit, travel oils (grab yours here) with a diffuser and roll-ons, supplements (your vitamins and digestive support), homeopathic kit, etc. All of these things make the little things like motion sickness, ear pain from elevation changes, digestive support from the food you ate, or that unplanned scrape, easy to deal with without interrupting your trip.

Planning a trip for 1 or 10 people does not need to cause unnecessary stress or worry. Make it simple and enjoyable with these quick tips. Which one will benefit you and your family the most?

#7 Getting All the Oil Out

Grab a glass dropper to make sure that you get every last precious drop of essential oil out because we all know how those last few drops like to hide in the bottom.

#8 Make Your Oils Last Longer

Grab your empty roller bottles and some stainless steel roller filaments to turn your empty bottles into roll on’s. Simple add some carrier oil and whatever desired oils and BOOM! You now have a roll on. You can also grab some empty roll on and makeup concoctions as well. This is a great way to blend up what you or your family needs and make it ready to use!

#9 Stronger Nails

Grab a bottle of tea tree oil and apply to the cuticles to help grow stronger nails. You can add carrier oil if you would like or apply neat. This is also awesome for your toenails and anything funky you may have going on there J

#11 Clean Windows, Mirrors, Stainless Steel, & Fruits & Veggies

Grab a spray bottle (16 oz), 1 cup of vinegar and 15-20 drops of lemon or orange essential oil. This concoction will clean your mirrors, windows, stainless steel and clean your fruits & veggies (remember the sticky stuff we talked about earlier, well it also takes care of the waxes or coating on the fruits & veggies). One bottle so many uses!

We all know at least one person that has some not-so-pleasant foot odors. Grabbing an essential oil like Purification, Citrus Fresh, or lemongrass can help. Just apply to a cotton ball and place the cotton ball in the shoes or gym bag. You can also just add a drop to the bottom of the shoe as well.

#14 Support Your Respiratory System

Grab some tissues, put them in a baggie and add a few drops of an essential oil like eucalyptus, Raven, RC, or frankincense, then when you need that extra respiratory support you can open the bag and use a tissue to support your respiratory system. This is also a great time to have a roll on such as Breathe Again!

#15 After too much Sun…

We all have the days where we forget sunscreen or just simply enjoy the sun for a little longer than we thought. Lavender essential oil in a little bit of carrier oil applied after your skin gets a little too sun-kissed works awesome at soothing the skin. If you also want to cool down the skin, apply a drop of peppermint essential oil. This cools the skin as well as drives the lavender oil in deeper for more skin support.

#16 Fresh Smelling Vents

If you would like to have your whole house smell good and get the benefits of essential oils, grab some cotton balls with a few drops of lemon, Purification or Thieves, and stick them in your vents. This is also a good time to grab you’re AC or furnace filter and add a few drops to that as well.

#17 Be Your Own Diffuser

While we can’t always be by a diffuser, we can apply our favorite essential oils to our scarf, diffuser necklace or bracelet and have it with us throughout the day.

From time to time our toothbrush will fall on the floor or get just needs to be cleaned. Grab your Thieves essential oil and add a drop to the brush head- BOOM! Clean!

#19 Tooth Discomfort

When we are having a dental procedure done, have a sore tooth, someone has braces or maybe you have a teething kiddo, we have some oils that are great for supporting our oral care. Clove (or Thieves blend) essential oil work great and has a very numbing effect. For the littles or for those who do not care for such an intense feeling, copaiba essential oil works great! It is virtually tasteless and has the same results.

#20 Use a Mason Jar for Drinking

When we start drinking oils in our water like lemon, orange or Citrus Fresh, we want to make sure that we are using a glass or stainless steel container. One quick way to do this is a simple old mason jar. Add your ice, a drop of lemon essential oil and water to the top and you are ready to go!

What is one essential oil hack that you are ready to start using today?
