What does it mean to trust God completely—even through tragedy, uncertainty, suffering, and unexpected blessings?

In this deeply moving episode, Yvette Helfers shares her powerful testimony of God’s faithfulness throughout every season of her life. From a miraculous rescue after nearly drowning as a toddler to the heartbreaking loss of multiple children through miscarriage, Yvette reveals how the Lord has continually drawn her closer through both joy and suffering.

Raised in a large Mexican Catholic family with a mother devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Yvette reflects on how her mother’s faith and prayers laid the foundation for her own relationship with Christ. She recounts the miracle that saved her life after she was found lifeless in a swimming pool, a moment she believes was made possible through her mother’s unwavering trust in God’s mercy.

As her story unfolds, Yvette speaks candidly about marriage, motherhood, and her own journey of conversion. Although she remained Catholic, she admits that she knew very little about her faith as a young adult. Together with her husband, Kevin—who was initially strongly opposed to Catholicism—they gradually discovered the beauty of the sacraments, Eucharistic devotion, and God’s call to deeper discipleship.

One of the most profound moments of the episode centers on an encounter with Jesus during Eucharistic Adoration. There, the Lord revealed areas where Yvette and her husband had struggled to trust Him, particularly regarding family planning. Through the grace of Confession and spiritual direction, they embraced a path of surrender that transformed their marriage and opened their hearts to God’s plan.

Yvette also shares the emotional journey of experiencing multiple miscarriages. Rather than allowing grief to separate her from God, she found hope through prayer, the intercession of St. Padre Pio, and confidence that each of her children rests safely in the Father’s embrace. She beautifully describes how these experiences strengthened her conviction that every human life is precious and that God can bring extraordinary grace even from profound suffering.

Throughout the conversation, Yvette continually points listeners back to the heart of the Gospel: Jesus never abandons His children. Through prayer, the Rosary, frequent reception of the sacraments, and trust in God’s providence, He provides peace even when life’s circumstances remain difficult.

This testimony is filled with encouragement for anyone carrying burdens, grieving loss, questioning God’s plan, or seeking renewed faith. Yvette reminds us that while we cannot always understand God’s ways, we can always trust His love.

In This Episode You’ll Hear:

Memorable Quote

“God doesn’t ask for only part of our hearts. He asks us to trust Him with every compartment of our lives. When we surrender everything to Him, His grace can transform even our deepest wounds into beautiful testimonies of His love.”

Whether you are walking through suffering, seeking healing, or longing for a deeper relationship with Christ, Yvette’s testimony offers hope, encouragement, and a powerful reminder that God’s mercy is always greater than our fears.

“Pray, hope, and don’t worry.” — St. Padre Pio

Father Tom SparacinoMagnificat® Ministry Presents Magnificat® Proclaims, Episode 10, Fr. Tom Sparacino, A Faith Journey Leading to the Priesthood

Magnificat® Ministry Presents Magnificat® Proclaims.

In this episode, Fr. Tom Sparacino, a priest of Jesus Christ for the diocese of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, since June 6, 1998, shares his faith journey and path to becoming a priest.

His devout Catholic upbringing in a small hamlet of West Pittsburg instilled in him Christian values and the importance of faith-filled community from an early age. At fourteen, a powerful Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) weekend left a profound impact on Fr. Tom, leading him to hear God’s call to the priesthood. However, the path to ecclesiastic life was not immediately clear, as he also harbored dreams of becoming a chef, getting married, and having a large family. It took Fr. Tom some time and overcoming various challenges before he fully embraced his calling.

Fr. Tom’s journey has been marked by diverse roles in the church, each contributing to his rich and varied experience. He has served as a parochial vicar, pastor, high school chaplain, and co-vocation director, each role shaping his understanding of faith and service. Currently, he serves as the rector of St. Paul Seminary and is the director of pre-ordination formation for the diocese. His role as Spiritual Advisor to the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Chapter of Magnificat, since 2010, further connects him to the community.

About Magnificat® Ministry

Founded in 1981, Magnificat®, A Ministry to Catholic Women, an international nonprofit with over 70 Chapters across the globe, exists to evangelize and encourage Catholic women to grow in holiness through opening more fully to the power and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. “My Soul Magnifies the Lord,” recorded in Luke 1:46, is the beginning of Mary’s response to Elizabeth’s joyful greeting. The entire scene of the Visitation is the inspiration for this Ministry. Through quarterly gatherings that include a Chapter Meal, praise and worship, guest speakers proclaiming their testimonies as to how God has transformed their lives, and other faith-sharing experiences organized in a relaxed social setting, women (and men) are inspired and encouraged to grow in faith through the power of the Holy Spirit.
