Traveling: tips, tricks, and must-haves

Traveling can be crazy, chaotic, and all around draining but it doesn’t have to be.

Here are a few tips, tricks, and must-haves that we have found hugely beneficial while traveling, especially when we travel with kids and a lot of them!

#1 Be Flexible

Being flexible helps you prepare for delays, traffic or changes in your plan. I also like to not over plan. This allows for some rest and relaxation during your trip.

#2 Make a List

  • Packing your bag
  • Travel plan or schedule
  • All the extra’s (camera, snacks, etc.)

#3 Pack minimally

  • Can you do laundry?
  • How many outfits can you make with the pieces of clothing you packed?
  • Check the weather for where you are headed
  • Pack one container of toys (something that is compactable but classic)
  • What does the hotel/timeshare/house provide? (pack and play, high chair, strollers, etc.)

#4 Keep your budget in mind

With a large or small family, the budget is always important. Should you check out renting a home through someplace like VRBO or do you get a hotel room or an extended stay? Do you want to have a place to cook or are you planning on eating out?

Another thing to consider is driving or flying? Will you need to rent a car, for how many people? Is the travel for business or pleasure?

#5 Never forget your essentials

A large part of your costs can be on things that you could have easily packed. Do you have a travel 1st aid kit, travel oils (grab yours here) with a diffuser and roll-ons, supplements (your vitamins and digestive support), homeopathic kit, etc. All of these things make the little things like motion sickness, ear pain from elevation changes, digestive support from the food you ate, or that unplanned scrape, easy to deal with without interrupting your trip.

Planning a trip for 1 or 10 people does not need to cause unnecessary stress or worry. Make it simple and enjoyable with these quick tips. Which one will benefit you and your family the most?

As always, be grateful & have faith!

God Bless!

7 Tip for Digestive Health through the Holidays

The holidays are busy and usually have us running from function to function eating things that we typically don’t eat and in turn not always feeling the best. Supporting and maintaining our digestive health is crucial in keeping our immune systems in check and up to par.

Tip #1 Start Your Day Right

This can look different from each person but when we give ourselves 5 minutes to pray, meditate, dive into scripture, dedicate our day to God, or just 5 minutes to breathe in the morning it can start off in the right direction. One devotion that is amazing for the Advent season is Rooted in Hope, check it out!

Tip #2 Health Snacks & Food

As we are running from a family gathering to holiday events and meeting up with old friends, a lot of our food options are not as healthy as we may typically eat. Having a back-up for a healthy snack or bringing a healthy dish to pass is another great option. Knowing that you have a healthy snack can help you to not overindulge on foods that you know will make you feel not so great later on.

Tip #3 Stay Hydrated

Drinking water is always important especially when it comes to our digestive health. Water can help us to not feel as hungry, when we add some lemon essential oil(grab yours here) it can help flush toxins and balance our bodies PH level, and it helps to properly hydrate our entire body so that everything moves smoothly- including our digestive tract.

Tip #4 Prebiotics & Probiotics

Both prebiotics and probiotics are key to not only our digestive function but also our immune system. Finding a quality pre and probiotic can be tricky. Two that we have found to be hugely beneficial and meet up to our standards are:

  • Life 9 is an amazing probiotic that has over 17 million live cultures (grab them here)
  • MightyPro is a prebiotic/probiotic supplement that literally tastes like a pixie stick and contains over 8 million live cultures. Either can be taken by kids or adults (grab yours here)

Another amazing and quick option to get some of those crucial prebiotic and probiotics into your life through the holidays is by drinking Kefir water or Kombucha. They taste amazing, you can buy them or make your own. Learn more here about each.

#5  Enzymes

Enzymes are key to life itself and therefore are a huge key to digestive function. They help us to break down food that is hard to digest and keep our intestinal tract moving along. Even though enzymes are found in the foods that we eat, due to the way we cook and process them very few are left to help us digest them. Essentialzymes-4 and Detoxzyme are amazing enzymes that can help you through the holiday season (grab yours here).

#6 Slow Down

The holidays can be rushed but take a moment and slow down. Enjoy the moments with your family and friends. Take the time and enjoy all of the little things- the laughter, the games, and the taste of your food. Don’t over-do things but instead slow down and enjoy them!

#7 Get Good Sleep

We all know that sleep is a necessary daily activity but making sure to get enough sleep can make or break your holiday season. Turn off the phone a little sooner, give yourself 10 minutes to finish that project, and make sure to schedule those 7-8 hours of sleep that our body needs to function and be the best version of ourselves that we can be.

What tips are you going to add to your life this holiday season?

Start by adding one and gradually add all of them so that you can be the best YOU this holiday season.

Here is to you and your digestive healthy this holiday season!
