We are living in a new society where people expect things to be given to them rather than earning them. I have seen numerous instances where an adult child is asking their retired parents for financial help when dealing with excessive credit card debt while they still vacation, have a nice home, nice cars, and having a weekend BBQs. Rather than dealing with the problem directly, it has become standard to not make sacrifices and work additional overtime, a second job, and giving up material possessions. The United States is a land of opportunity. You are only limited by your imagination. You can create your own business which many people across the globe do not have the opportunity to do the same. You can write your own story you simply need to put the idea into motion. Scripture is clear about providing for our families and laziness.
Proverbs 16:27 Idle hands are the devil’s workshop. Idle lips are his mouthpiece.
Proverbs 13:4 The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.
1 Tim 5:8 Anyone who does not provide for their relatives and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
We must be obedient as stewards. Be a faithful giver and charitable to those in need. Avoid the use of debt. Be a good saver. Utilize the talent(s) God has given you to do these things as you strive to be better stewards.
