Why do we have trouble with certain sins in our lives? Most people look at their lives and compare them to others, and think – hey, I’m doing pretty good! But we all struggle from those little sins that can be insurmountable. What are they? The most common are gossip, envy, pride, lies, anger, unforgiveness, and lust.

Sometimes that sin seems like an insurmountable mountain and we can’t see the victory that is just over the summit on the other side. Usually, the sin that gets us is those pesky little ones like gossip. I remember a time in my life where I really enjoyed gossip. It was fun to hear details of other people’s lives, especially in high school. I realized at some point when I heard something repeated about me, that this was a sin. It was out of the blue – I wasn’t in prayer or on my knees. I don’t even remember the exact situation, I just knew that it was a sin. And I wanted no part of it. To this day I detest gossip. That is not to say that I never participate in gossip – I’m not perfect, but I seriously avoid it.

The same thing with drama – I can not handle drama and over-the-top situations that leave me feeling upset and angry. There are only so many things we can control and someone else drama is not one of them.

Friends there are only so many days in our lives and our days are numbered. Only God knows the time yet if we waste our time on the frivolous and believe me those little things soon become a mountain we are talking our eyes off of God and wasting them on the ridiculous.

There is nothing in you life that can not be conquered by the Almighty and our trust must be in Him – He is victorious! He is the king of King and Lord of Lords and There is victory in Jesus and over sin and we know the battle has been won.

Victory Over Sin The Battle Has Been Won

Colossians 2:15 “When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

  • Did God defeat the evil one? Yes and Amen.
  • Did God rise like he said he would on the 3rd day – Yes and Amen.
  • Did God send us His Holy Spirit to guide us in our lives? Yes and Amen.

We are heading toward the goal and the prize, and that will be our time in the glory of heaven.

You know, today I was thinking that we hold on to this world so tightly – and believe me, I’m not ready to leave yet… but the thought came that we hold on so tightly and if we knew, just had a tiny inkling of what heaven would be like we would be begging God to take us.

Thessalonians 4:13-15.  But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep [a]in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive [b]and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.

Jesus is the resurrection and the life – we must be focused now on the end, and the journey that is the hard knocks of life are the things that are the obstacles that later we will consider trivial. When we have overcome sin we look at it and are amazed that it even had a hold on us – and we know that we can be victorious in Christ.

The best things in life are those that are the most difficult at times to overcome. Christianity is not for the faint-hearted. But the problem is that we think we have to do the heavy lifting when we don’t — it has been done for us!  Let’s remember this as we celebrate the resurrection of Christ each Sunday and remember it each day – may God be blessed!

Let’s pray – Oh Lord by your cross you gave us an example of what we may need to overcome in our lives. Give us victory over sin, help us to truly see sin for what it is the temptation by the evil one – help us to renew our covenant with you my God and see in you the wonders of the glory of your Name. And I pray for these specific needs … and I praise you and thank you, In Jesus Name I pray. Amen
