Who do you listen to?

There are many voices in the world who clamor for our attention and think they can guide us on the best path. Ultimately, though, only God wants what is best for us and will be with us always. In Luke 5:1-11, Jesus calls Simon (Peter) to follow him. But first, Jesus asks him to throw his net over and catch fish. Peter is tired and thinks it is pointless, but obeys Jesus nonetheless.

Lack of human potential vs divine fulfillment

And what happens next shows us that when we think we are lacking, obedience will bring divine fulfillment. And not a little bit, but an abundance. Now, this may not happen immediately as it does here in this story, but eventually, it will happen.

The other places we see this in Luke are in Luke chapter 1, specifically verses 1:34-37. We are told that “nothing is impossible for God.”

God will not leave us

Whenever God calls us, we may doubt or think he has the wrong person. Let’s try not to doubt God’s plan, remembering that whatever he calls you to he will stay with you, as you persevere, to the end.

Get into your bible this week and read Luke chapter 1, a little each day or Luke 5:1-10. How do these scriptures remind you that God will lead you and stay with you always? Is he calling you to something new? How will you respond?

A Meditation for Christmas

A Production of the Ultimate Christian Podcast Network.

Almost Christmas!

There’s no need for many words. So I offer yo this mediation based on Luke 1. Read it and then give a listen in a quiet, prayerful place. And surprise, it’s not me, it my husband you’ll hear.

A voice for radio

A little story – a few years ago my husband and I were in Italy visiting my family. I was the translator between them and John. One night, my cousin’s husband says, after hearing John talk to me, “he has a voice for radio.” I start cracking up, thinking of the phrase,  you have a face for radio. At any rate, I translate back and forth and we settle the joke and the compliment and move on. But I think about it sometimes, when I hear my husband proclaim the Gospel at Mass. He does so well; sometimes I forget it’s him.

Happy Birthday!

So yes, I celebrate another year this week. Quite close to Christmas. If you join my newsletter list, which is so much more, as you will get access to the Live Not Lukewarm Community and all my courses, I will enter you into a drawing to win a prize.

Merry Christmas!

I hope you have a Merry and Blessed Christmas!
