Taking Your Faith To A New Level Show Notes:
Many people are unhappy but not willing to do anything to change their lives for the better. Change takes hard work and a willingness to do the hard things. Whether it is taking more time for prayer or more time to read the Bible or time to go to church.
Are you ready to dig deeper into your faith? Are you ready to take it to a new level? I pray you are because today we are talking about this very thing.
First of all, faith is a gift that is given to us — yet we have to nurture our faith in a way that allows it to grow. Ask yourself the following questions:
- Am I happy where I am in my journey with Christ?
- Do I feel that I am at peace?
- Can I minister to others as God leads?
- Do I spend time with God each day?
Why dig deeper into our faith? Faith gives us hope.
2 Corinthians 5:6-7
Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: For we walk by faith, not by sight:
Hebrews 11:1 — Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Digging deeper and going to the next level faith grants us the ability to love more deeply.
1 Corinthians 13: 2
If I have the gift of prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
Often we are not happy in our circumstances due to things we can not change. Right now give those things over to the Lord — take them off of your shoulders and give them to God. Life throws us curves and at times we walk around in circles.
In previous podcasts, we’ve discussed expectant faith, here and Faith as a gift here but have do you believe that is meant for you. I many times, and I’m guilty of this as well, I think that the Bible refers to others and it is not for me. But that is not true.
Why do you think there are so many self-help websites and books? Because we are a hurting people and unfortunately many people follow the wrong advice and get off the path toward God into a self-focused enlightenment that is not at all in line with Christianity.
Delving into our faith does take self-awareness to leave behind those things that keep us from a deeper walk and a next level of faith. It does not mean we are to be so self-focused that we concentrate on making ourselves mini-gods. There is only one God and He is the Almighty. His message is not for all because it isn’t the path most traveled, it is the path least traveled yet the only path that leads us to true happiness.
Digging into the next level faith means we will spend more time in prayer, spend more time reading the scriptures and if we do, we won’t be able to watch things that are not appropriate. It always astounds me when I hear of Christian women who read filthy novels. I could not stomach to read that type of thing – not because I think I am more holy –not at all, but because my conscience won’t allow it!
My goal today is not to teach you how to go to the next level of your faith but to invite you to pray about going deeper. These prayers, my friends are the ones that seem to get answered. The scriptures are filled with God’s love and His desire for us to live a life that is deeper and holy. Does that mean we are giving up many things to follow Christ? Some would answer yes, but I’d say, “No!” I think we are getting the better deal.
Let’s pray.
Dear Lord, I praise you for the ability to pray and thank you for giving us the Holy Bible that is filled with words about faith, As it reads in 2 Corinthians — “… For we walk by faith, not by sight” I pray that you give me the desire to dig deeper in my faith walk, to desire a next level faith in You. That all I do and say gives You glory and honor. You have given me the gift of life and I thank You for this gift. Not everything in my life is perfect — far from it, but I do hold on to the promises You’ve made to those who love you. Thank you, Lord for every good thing in my life and I pray a special blessing on all those listening that you increase their faith, today and always. Amen.
